DeBartolo Performing Arts Center

Making every performance feel like DeBartolo.

A performing arts center programs across every discipline, from music to dance, theater and film. The identity asks its audience to follow it across all of them.

The visual identity has to do the same: sophisticated enough to honor a world-class performance, flexible enough to embrace completely different art forms, and recognizable enough that every piece still feels unmistakably DeBartolo.

The Brief

The challenge was to make a season's worth of events feel like they came from the same mind.

Every performance carries its own energy, audience, and visual demands. Each needs to feel individually considered while remaining part of a larger, recognizable identity.

The engagement evolved across multiple seasons, from the brand book and seasonal campaigns to performance advertising, print, social, digital, and environmental applications.

The system needed enough rigor to hold everything together and enough room to keep generating new work season after season.

The Idea

New season. New energy. Same unmistakable DPAC voice.

The creative architecture works on two levels.

Each season begins with its own visual idea, a distinct theme that gives the year's programming a character of its own.

Underneath it, a consistent typographic and visual language connects everything back to DeBartolo. Different performances can look completely different, but they still belong to the same place.

The Direction

Each season became an opportunity to evolve the visual language rather than simply repeat it.

Campaign themes established the creative point of view. From there, individual performances were given their own visual treatment, responding to the discipline, artist, and audience while remaining connected to the larger season.

The system extended across performance admats, print, social, digital, environmental signage, and the day-to-day communications of a year-round performing arts center.

The standard held steady even as the work itself never stopped moving.

The System

Underlying the campaigns was a brand book designed to give DeBartolo and its creative partners a shared framework for maintaining the identity across every vendor, printer, platform, and physical environment.

The Outcome

The relationship continues across seasons, with each year's work bringing a new creative lens while strengthening recognition of the DeBartolo brand.

From classical music to contemporary dance, theater to film, the programming keeps changing. The identity keeps pace.
